Edna Scott Barco passed away quietly in her sleep on March 24, 1999, in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Barco was born in Elizabeth City, N.C., on Dec 1, 1913. She was the daughter of the late Cordelia Spence and James Asa Scott. She was the widow of Charlie Louis Barco. Mrs. Barco was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Augusta Scott; four brothers, Charles F. Scott, Marvin Scott, Cecil S. Sherlock and George R. Sherlock. Mrs. Barco had been a resident of Virginia Beach since 1952 and was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Barco Griggs and her husband, Richard Thomas Griggs, and her beloved grandson, Richard Thomas Griggs Jr., all of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by a cousin, Sarah S. Tillis; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will conducted at 2 p.m. today at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel, by the Rev. David Ford. Burial will be at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery in Virginia Beach. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 945, Virginia Beach, Va. 23451.
