Avalt Louis Baker Dies
In Spirit Lake Feb. 24

Avalt Louis Baker was born at East Lynne, Ill. April 20, 1900 and died at Spirit Lake, Feb. 24, 1951 at the age of 50 years, 10 months and four days.

He was the third child of Daniel and Mary Baker. When two years old, the family moved to Churdan, Iowa residing there for three years, and moving to Jefferson, Iowa for a period of eight years. In 1913 the family moved to Spirit Lake which became Mr. Baker's residence until the time of his death.

On January 11, 1922 he was united in marriage to Mabel Edith Bernhagen of Spencer. To this union were born seven children.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel, six daughters, Gladys Rosenberg of Spirit Lake; Grace Ambrose of Glendale, California; Olive Kearney of Storm Lake; Velma, Vera, Evelyn and one son, Fredrick William, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Daniel Baker of Spirit Lake; and one sister, Mrs. O. L. Rhoades of Ladysmith, Wisc., four grandchildren and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Baker in 1939, by an infant brother in 1914 and by a brother, Otto Franklin Baker, in 1927.
