Her obituary from the Russell Register:

Elma Hazel Bryant, 86, passed away August 9, 2009 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown. She was born September 23, 1922 to the late Mertie Ellen Foley Loy and the late Leslie M. Loy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ola Bryant; one son, James Dennis Bryant; three infants; two sisters, Ada Thomas Gentry and Lava Campbell; and a brother, Arvis Elvern Loy. She was a homemaker and a member of Free Union Separate Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Bryant, Feathersburg, Kentucky; one sister, Avis Foley, Russell Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Goff and Bro. Glen Richardson officiating. Burial was in Free Union Cemetery. Special music was provided by Glen and Willodean Richardson. Bernard Funeral Home Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Elma was married to my maternal grandmother's brother. Mom and I visited her in the nursing home in Campbellsville, I believe it was October 2003, but could have been a different year. It was the last time we saw her as Mom preceded her in death, but it was good to get that one last time to visit.

I stopped at my grandparent's old home place in the early 90s when I was on a business trip from Cincinnati to Nashville, Tennessee. Uncle Ola and Aunt Elma lived across the road from there. While the properties no longer belong to anyone in our family, they will always remind me of them and the times we had together.
