Spelling of last name is incorrect on headstone as well as his middle initial. His correct name is Pvt. Aaron N. Gaines of Floyd County, Georgia. Son of James Gaines(1791–1856) and Margaret Clore (1796–1862). He married Caroline C. McMullen (1830–1898) on 28 December 1848 and from this union had the following children: Malinda E. (b.1849); Adelia (b.1852); Lou Rebecca (b.1855); Martha A. (b.1858); William Aaron (b.1861) and Charles Enoch (1864–1941).
