Married 1st Mary Mizell Tompkins born 12/1876 daughter of Andrew W & Sarah Mizell. She was born in Suwannee County, Florida. Known children were Claude born 1898 died 1941 in Columbia County Florida, Cleo born 1899, Theo born 1899. Doris born 1902 and Warren born 1904.

Married 2nd to Maggie Zelma Hale born 1/18/1885 and died 10/31/1944 buried at Elzey Chapel Cemetery in Union County, Florida. Known children were James Jr born 1906-1962 also buried at Elzie Chapel, Pearal born 1908, John born 1910,Nancy born 1912, Danny born 1916 ,Helen born 1920 and Leon.
