Jazz Musician. He is considered one of the greatest tenor saxophonists in jazz history, and played with the likes of Count Basie, Fletcher Henderson and Benny Goodman bands, as well as cutting many popular records with jazz singer Billie Holiday, who gave him the nickname "Pres," short for "President." Lester Young, in his turn, dubbed Holiday "Lady Day."
