Ellen Eleise Knock, 88, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas.
Ellen was born in Chanute, Kansas, on August 8, 1921, the daughter of Daniel E. Sr. and Laura L. (Hodgden) Bower.
She grew up in Chanute, graduating from Chanute High School and Chanute Junior College.
She married Richard Dean Williams in 1940. They later divorced.
She married Chester W. Huffman in 1950. They divorced in 1960.
She was united in marriage to William Chester (Bill) Knock on October 7, 1966. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1998.
Ellen had worked as a manager of Independence Dry Cleaners.
She is survived by her children, Penny (Williams) Akridge, and Tony Williams; step-children, William Henry Knock, Robert Knock, Rosalind (Knock) McCoy and Pamela Knock; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother W. Fred Bower; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; a daughter Patricia (Huffman) Hand; two grandchildren, Tony Stowell and Chad Hand; and brothers and sisters, Golda Bower, Arletta Hansen, Daniel Bower Jr., Emmett Bower, Nellie Brower, and Hugh Bower.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute, Kansas. Burial will follow at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials in her name may be made to the Cherry Street Youth Center, P.O. Box 414, Chanute, Kansas 66720 and may be left with the funeral home.
