He married Mary Margaret Meckes (daughter of Godfrey Meckes and Margaret Greenzweig).

Peter died in his home and was buried in St. Matthew's Church cemetery. (Obit in "Morning Call", Allentown, Tuesday, 25 January 1921, p. 16) His obituary stated that he was survived by "eight children, several of whom reside in Bethlehem, the remainder in the vicinity of Little Gap". To date, only five of his children have been identified.
Private, Company L, 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Enlisted on June 11, 1864. Discharged by General Order no. 77 A.G.O. on June 21, 1865 from U.S. General Hospital in Cumberland, Maryland. Register of Pennsylvania Volunteers says he was discharged by surgeon's certificate due to injury. Also listed as Bouncer.

Wife Mary Bonser filed for a widow's pension on February 4, 1921, application number 1,168,357, certificate 900,594.
