Philip Aranas
PORTSMOUTH --- Philip (Eppi) Aranas, 77, of 404 Dorset Ave., died Thursday at 2:15 a.m. in a hospital after a long illness.
He was a native of the Philippine Islands and lived in the Tidewater area 45 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and had been a merchant seaman.
Recently he was a cook at the Filipino Recreation Center.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Sonja Gray, and two grandchildren, all of Portsmouth.
The body was taken to Sturtevant Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be recited tonight at 8:30.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
Note: Even though Philip's obituary lists his burial in Olive Branch Cemetery, he is found in St. Paul's Cemetery records (cemetery plot noted). Philip is not listed in Olive Branch Cemetery records.
