On 24 March 1906, Maggie Ola Bullock married James "Frank" Basinger (Sr.) in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. Between 1908 and 1936, she delivered 15 children and raised a grandson from birth (due to her 16 year old daughter dying following childbirth).

The family made their way from Bienville Parish to Benton, Bossier Parish, and on to Sarepta/Springhill, Webster Parish.

She was a caring and loving mother/grandmother. She had many hardships during her life - caring for a large family, the Great Depression, as many as four sons off to war at the same time, the death of four children (two infants and two grown), and her husband bedridden for the last 8 years of his life. Through it all she never lost faith in God.
