S.T. Bell Dies at Estelline

S.T. Bell, an old pioneer of Hall County, died Wednesday of last week at the home of his grand daughter, Mrs. Ollie Davidson of Estelline. We have been unable to learn any of the details of the funeral. Mr. Bell was up in the 80's and had been a resident of Hall county from the beginning of the county and was the father of Mrs. C.L. Sloan, who until recent years was a resident of Memphis. We will try to get more data and more extended write up next week.

Steven T. Bell Dies Last Week at Estelline

Steven T. Bell was born Nov. 9, 1845, in Tennessee and married Miss Sarah Wright Crossling [sic] in 1866. They moved to Russellville, Ky., where their children were born.

In 1884 they moved to Waco, Texas and lived there four years later moving near Wichita Falls where his wife died.

In 1890 he moved to Hall county and located south of the river, what is now Newlin. In later years he made his home in Memphis with his daughter, Mrs. C.L. Sloan.

Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Sloan moved to Denver, Colo., in 1922, taking Mr. Bell with them.

Mr. Bell returned to Hall county to visit relatives, last September, and remaining in the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. O.A. Davidson, of Estelline. He enjoyed seeing and talking with old friends; his health was failing fast, although he seemed to enjoy the Christmas and new Year's celebration.

Being unable to return to Denver Mr. Bell remained in Estelline and his daughter, Mrs. Sloan, remained with him.

He was confined to his bed more than six weeks. He developed bronchial pneumonia which he was unable to overcome. Death came on February 17, at one a.m. at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. O.A. Davidson. Interment at Estelline cemetery.

Mr. Bell professed religious faith at the age of 21 and joined the M.E. church at that time. He is survived by three children, 12 grand children, and 18 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
