Walter Hake, of Dover, departed this life on the morning of January 10, 2010.

Born April 8, 1922, in Conewago Township, he was a son of the late Charles and Edith (Sipe) Hake.

Walter proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a self-employed carpenter for 25 years.

Walter was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and James A. Danner VFW Post 537 in Etters.

He was the loving husband of Luella M. (Gembe) Hake. The couple celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 22, 2009. In addition to Luella, Walter is survived by four children, Alfred L. Hake of Manchester, Charles A. Hake of Dover, Bonnie Sweitzer of York New Salem, and Patti Latchaw of Dover; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Emsminger of Hohenwald, TN.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hake; and two brothers, Alvin Hake and John Hake.

Interment was in Dover Bethany Cemetery with veteran's honors presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard.
