Joseph R. Black, 52 years old, died at his home near Macon Sunday after an illness of almost two years. Tuberculosis was the cause.

He leaves his wife and two sons, Robert, aged 13, and Luther, aged 8 years.

He was a native of Mercer county, Penn., coming to Illinois with his father, the late John Black, many years ago, when he was but a child. His life was spent in Macon county, where he was always a farmer and a prosperous one. He owned a quarter section of land near Macon and had a considerable amount of personal property.

In addition to his immediate family he leaves his brothers, John Black, now traveling in the West, and last heard from in Wyoming; Jerry Black of Boody; and W. H. Black, of Newton, Kan.; his sisters Mrs. Adeline Sowards of Newton, Kan., and Mrs. Dorothy Williams of Westemoreland, Kan. It is not expected that any of the relatives living at a distance will be present at the funeral today. Mrs. Sadie Colvin, a niece, residing at Newton, Kan., was with him when he died.
