Mr. Gilbert Vaughn Hagaman, 84, of Bethel Road, Sugar Grove, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 23, 2009, at Watauga Medical Center.

He was born April 24, 1925 in Watauga County to Hardie and Ella Harmon Hagaman.

Mr. Hagaman was a member of Zionhill Baptist Church and was a farmer and saw miller.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Cannon Hagaman; two daughters, two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, one sister, and one half-brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant children; four brothers, Graydon Hagaman, the Rev. Lawrence Hagaman, Robert Hagaman and John Hagaman; and three sisters, Rosa Ward, Ethel Ward and Flora Hagaman; and a son-in-law, the Rev. Maurice Ward.

Services were conducted Saturday morning, Dec. 26, 2009 at 11 o'clock at Zionhill Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. James Hagaman and the Rev. Quincy Norris. Burial followed in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to Zionhill Baptist Church or to the Zionhill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Dena Harmon, 5195 NC Highway 321 North, Sugar Grove.
