Irene Brandon, age 93, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the Corydon Care Center, Corydon.
Irene was born February 11, 1913, the daughter of Frank and Minnie(Buttz)Long in Plano, Iowa. She married Ede Brandon May 8, 1930 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He preceded her in death 1988. Irene was a homemaker all of her life. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Mystic, Iowa. Irene was the President of the New York Garden Club for many years. She was a member of both the Plano Christian Church and the Brushy Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and sewing for her family and friends.
Irene is survived by her three children, Harold Dean Brandon of Plano, Iowa, Ona Jean Head-Collins and husband Richard of Indianola, Iowa, and Carol Adene Teed and husband Gail of Colfax, Iowa; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren; and eight step great great grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Ivan, Louis, and Merle Long; two grandsons, Eddie Brandon and Rodney Teed; and a great grandson Derek Head.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home with Pastor David Welch officiating. Interment will follow at the Bruchy Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday at the funeral home from 12-2 PM. A memorial has been established to the Brushy Creek Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
