Wayman Barrett Brown, was born Feb. 19, 1939, to Mallissa Betty Frances Smith Thompson and Dock Brown in Terre Haute, and departed this life Nov. 14, 2009. Wayman was educated in the Vigo County Public School System and graduated from State High School and attended Indiana State University. He was the softline manager for Kmart then transitioned to Courier at Western Tar, before his retirement. He also was a nationally known pianist/organist.Wayman Brown is survived by his wife of 50 years, SaRetta Brown; three daughters Janice (Stanley) Wright, Jessica L Brown, and JoHonna J. Brown; granddaughters SaRetta J, Brown, Patricia L. Hill, Mallissa M.C. Wright; sisters and brothers, Margaret (Richard) Taylor, Franklin (Joyce) Brown, Lucretia (Richard) Cunningham, Patricia (Ronald) Jackson, Roger (Arlene) Brown and Robert Brown; a grand host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; and close family friends.Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 1400 Oak Street, with Pastor Cleytus Malone officiating. Interment is in Grandview Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the church. Masonic rites given at 10:40 a.m. Russell Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
