He was a gunner on B17s during the War, and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration. A member of the Corinthian Yacht Club in Ridge, he and his wife spent much of their retirement years on their boat.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Bruce Wood.
Survivors include children, Nancy Wickline & Walter J. Chandler; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, sister, Gene Treakle; brothers, Warren & William Wood.
Graveside services with military honors were conducted on Thursday, September 25, 2008.
