John T. Bullock served in the 1st MICH. L. A. regiment in Battery F.

John Tirl Bullock was born 1835 in Genessee, New York to his parents Levi Bullock and his wife Mary Ann Smith. When John was fifteen years old he and his family moved to Allegany County, New York According to the 1850 census. His Father Levi owning a farm with a value of $800.00. By 1860 John was living in a household in Flowerfield, St. Joseph County, Michigan with his Mother, Mary Ann and Sister, Fedilina. Several other sibling were also living in Flowerfield; sister Malvina was married to Preston Daly with their children and Brother William. John T. Bullock enlisted in the Union Army on December 30, 1962 at the age of 29 years. His unit was Battery F, 1st Regiment Michigan Light Artillery. His rank was private, which was later upgraded to Corporal in 1864. His discharge papers read as follows: "To all whom it may Concern: Know ye, that John T. Bullock a Corporal of Captain Lieutenent Hawley Company of 1st Regiment of Michigan Light Artillary Volunteers who was enrolled on the 30th day of December one thousand eight hundred and sixty two to serve three years was is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States this 1st day of July 1865, at Jackson, Michigan by reason of completing his assigned years of service.m Said John T. Bullock was born in Gennessee County in the State of New York, is 29 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair and by occupation, when enrolled, a farmer. Given at Jackson, Michigan this 1st day of July 1865. George Hawley, Lieutenent, Commanding Battery F 1st Regiment Michigan Light Artillery. Enlisted to the credit at Flowerfield Township, St. Joseph County in the State of Michigan. John married Emma Day an immigrant of England before 1869. John was 33 years of age and Emma was 20 years of age. They raised their nine children on a farm which John purchased in Newburg Township, Cass County, Michigan. Their names were Edith, Mae, William, Carrie, Marie, Arthur, Nina and Irl. John died in 1904 and is buried Newburg, Cass, Michigan in Harwood Lake Cemetery.
