Adkisson, 96, of Rockport, Indiana
passed away on Thursday, November
5, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor in
Rockport, IN.
Gertrude was born on January 7,
1913 in Calhoun, Kentucky to the
late William Ward and Elizabeth
Burden.
She graduated from Davis County
high School. After graduation she
worked for several years at General
Electric in Owensboro until she
started her family. She married
William Louis Adkisson in 1933.
Gertrude was the oldest living
member of St. Bernard Catholic
Church. She belonged to the Altar
Society. She enjoyed crocheting,
sing along and working crossword
puzzles. When she was a young girl
her brothers and she sang at many
functions and fairs around the
countryside. Gertrude loved singing
and after her retirement she wrote
songs and played the guitar.
She is preceded in death by her
husband William in 1979; Sons, Pat
and Pete Adkisson; Eleven brothers
and two sisters; She was the last
living sibling; Granddaughter,
Carolyn Russell; Grandsons, Kevin
Adkisson, Henry Frank, Daniel
Adamson.
She is survived by seven children,
William Adkisson and his wife Vickie
of Derby, IN; Elizabeth Rust of
Boonville, IN; Janet Combs and her
husband Rich of Denver, CO; Rose
Frank of LaConner, WA; Martha
Young of Richland, IN; Gerry
Adamson and her husband Kenny of
Hatfield, IN; Sharon Smith and her
husband Michael of Newburgh, IN;
Bea Anwiler and her husband Paul of
Washington, IN; She is also survived
by 35 grandchildren; 47 great-
grandchildren and 9 great-great-
grandchildren; Daughters-in-law,
Laverne Adkisson of Newburgh, IN;
Mary Adkisson of Rockport, IN.
Services are 10:30 A.M. Tuesday,
November 10, 2009 at St. Bernard
Catholic Church in Rockport, IN.
with Father Eugene Schmitt
officiating. Burial is in Sunset Hill
Cemetery in Rockport, IN.
Visitation is from 3 P.M. until 8
P.M. Monday, November 9, 2009
and from 8 A.M. until 10:00 A.M.
Tuesday at the Boultinghouse
Funeral Home in Rockport, IN.
