Francis and his brother Anthony were left in the care of an Aunt and Uncle when their parents moved to Brazil where Mary gave birth to their youngest sister Jeannie.
Mary died in Brazil and Francis and his daughter Jeannie returned to Scotland where he remarried.
Francis age 20 arrived in New York ( Ellis Island )from Glasgow, Scotland on May 10, 1893 aboard the Allen & State Lines SS The State of Nebraska that was built in Glasgow Scotland in 1880 at the London and Glasgow Ltd. (cabin location on the ship is listed as Steerage forward ). His last residence is listed as Port Glasgow. Francis is listed as a Fitter (Ship port hole fitter) and his destination is Baltimore, Maryland where is older brother Anthony now lived. Francis carried one piece of luggage.
Frank was married to Annie Howarth in 1895 soon after she arrived from Scotland
WALKER, Frank Joseph, 78, of 338 51st died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 13, in Philadelphia while in route to visit his son Allan in Upper Darby, Pa.
Frank and his daughter in law Blanche were to meet in Upper Darby and continue on to Scotland to visit Frank's only surviving sister Jeannie Dougherty and her family. Surviving are two sons Francis Jr. and Allan, three daughters Isabelle (Bella), Mary Francis (May) Ann Winifred (Winnie), 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The body will rest at Carder Funeral Home Thursday September 15.
