Yvonne Harris Davis, 79, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 2020 S. Collins. Interment: Parkdale Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Arlington Funeral Home.
Yvonne was born Aug. 24, 1930, to H.O. and Eula Maye Ayres Harris. She earned her B.A. in journalism, M.A. in English from North Texas State University. Yvonne married Ely Wesley Davis, moved to Arlington, and raised their children, David, Taffy and Andy. Wes and Yvonne helped found Good Shepherd Methodist Church. Yvonne taught English at Sam Houston High School for 31 years, serving as chairman of the English Department.
She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Harris Davis.
Survivors: Son, David Davis and Fay; daughter, Taffy Geisel and Howard; daughter-in-law, Beatrice Davis; brother, O'Neil Harris and Elizabeth; grandchildren, Emily, Diana, Mary, Joey and Caroline Geisel; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Matthew and Kathryn; and many beloved friends.
