Betty L. Braden, 81, Topeka, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at a Topeka nursing home.

Mrs. Braden worked at the Ramada Inn in Topeka for 25 years. She served as a foster grandparent at Kansas Neurological Institute for more than 35 years.

She was born April 29, 1921, in Topeka to Joseph Wheeler and Catherine Taylor Mullin.

She married Charles V. Braden on Aug. 1, 1939. He died on June 21, 1982. Mrs. Braden also was preceded in death by a son, Vernon L. Braden, on Jan. 23, 1985.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas J. Braden and Ronnie E. Braden, both of Topeka, and William H. Braden, Olive Hill, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Braden will lie in state after 3 p.m. today. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
