Gary E. Acklin, son of Gary T. and Carol Kendricks Acklin, was born August 29, 1979, in Calico Rock, Arkansas. He departed this life Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in St. John's Regional Health Center, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of twenty-three years, six months, and thirteen days.
His maternal grandparents, and paternal grandmother preceded him in death.
Gary is survived by his father, Gary Acklin, of Calico Rock, Arkansas; his mother, Carol Acklin, of Olpe, Kansas; two brothers, James Acklin, of Mountain View, Arkansas, and Tracy Kendricks, of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Angela Brown, of Olpe, Kansas; two nieces, Brooke and Baillie; his paternal grandfather, Griffin Acklin, of Yates Center, Kansas; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Arkansas, and attended high school there. He had been employed in the ironworks industry in Arkansas for several years. He had recently moved to Lebanon, Missouri and had been doing woodcutting for the last few months.
Gary had established his own relationship with his Lord and Savior, and had attended the Pentecostal church.
In his spare time he liked being outdoors, where some of his favorite activities included hunting and fishing, and especially playing baseball. His family was very important to him, and he enjoyed spending time with them.
Gary was a loving son, brother, uncle, and grandson, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Services will be held Friday, March 14, 2003 at 11:00a.m. in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the . Visitation will be held March 13, 2003 from 7-8:30 p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon, Missouri.
