Services for Herbert M. Abbey of Pasadena, a former civilian employee of the U.S. Coast Guard, will be held privately.
Mr. Abbey, 64, died Monday of pneumonia at North Arundel Hospital. He was born in Baltimore and graduated from high school. He also had two years of college.
Mr. Abbey served in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army between 1944 and 1967. After that, he went to work for the Coast Guard for 16 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Other interests included fishing, hunting and reading.
Survivors include his wife, the former Thelma H. Weckesser; four children, Charles Abbey of Virginia, Debra Abbey and Mitzi Molidor, both of Glen Burnie, and Susan Dudley of Pasadena; and seven grandchildren.
Arrangements were by the McCully Funeral Home.
