Charles was born in Germany. He was the husband of Anna Elizabeth Adolph. He served in the Civil War, Co. A 17th New York Vol. Inf. He was a member of GAR McPherson Post No. 51 and was Post Commander in 1913. He died at the Soldier's Home, Sawtelle, Los Angeles Co., CA., age 76 years.
