STAMFORD -- Jay Barnett, 86, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Griffith officiating, directed by Kinney Funeral Home.
Mr. Barnett was born in Ellis County and was a lifelong Texas resident. He moved to Stamford in 1914 and was a farmer. He also worked as a tractor mechanic for Buie Implement. He was a Baptist and was the widower of Neoma Berry Barnett, whom he married in 1960 in Seymour.
Survivors include three stepchildren, Terrell William Berry of Ontario, Calif., Glenn Allen Berry of Vidor and Virginia Elizabeth Green of Houston; and two sisters, Lillie McKennon of Baird and Allie McKennon of Abilene.
