Harry K. Allred, 95, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Feb. 8, 2004, at the home of his son Ken where he had been cared for the past two weeks by his two favorite nurses, his daughter-in-law, Dixie and his granddaughter, Angela German.

Harry was born July 25, 1908, in Ellensburg to Charles and Iva (Steck) Allred. He married Edna Allen on July 11, 1931, and together they raised a large family. He lived his entire life in the Kittitas Valley, where he helped build the rodeo grounds and Airport Road using horses and a dump wagon. Harry was a trucker, owning his own business for years and later driving for several local trucking companies. He was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church where he served as an elder and a member of The 99 Men's Club.

Harry never lost his zest for life or his sense of humor. His family was always very important to him and came first in his life.

Allred is survived by his wife of 72 years, five sons, Ted (Deanna), Charles (Marilyn), Ken (Dixie) of Ellensburg, Don (Yvonne) of Seattle, and Art (Mary) of Picayune, Miss. Five daughters, Doris (Don) Day, of Ellensburg and Marilyn (Larry) Odle, Linda Estep, Pat Cash and Marla (Phil) Bracero all of Vancouver. He is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Marinas and his sister Maybelle Jensvold, three daughters, Marion and Shirley Allred and Sharon Spitzer-Ross, also one grandson, Cory Allred.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Feb. 21 at the First Christian Church. Arrangements by Affordable Funeral Care. Memorials may be sent to Hospice Friends, 302 E. Second Ave.
