Edna Earle Kirk Atkins, 1918-2009, a native of North Alabama and a resident of Mobile, AL died on Monday, January 5, 2009 at a local hospital. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Gordo, Alabama Chapter and owner of The Custom Shop. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Franklin Atkins, Jr.; son, Robert Franklin Atkins, III., grandchildren; Jane Erin Atkins, Jennifer Diane Hicks and Kathleen Danielle Atkins. She is survived by her children, Sabre (Gene) Hicks of Mobile, AL and Jerome (Sandra) Atkins of Dauphin Island, AL. Sister, Betty Estes of Colorado; grandchildren, Gene Hicks, Jr, Shaun Hicks, Jerome Atkins, Jr., Robert Atkins, Joshua Atkins, Michael Atkins, Darlene Atkins and Christopher Atkins. Four great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
