*Note: Lydia's birth date on this memorial was taken from her Missouri death certificate and her headstone. Her mother's death date of 02 Jan 1876 means that either Lydia's death certificate and headstone are incorrect or the death date of her mother on Find A Grave is incorrect.

Lydia's younger brother, Harry, was born on 16 Mar 1878, which was less than 7 months after Lydia's birth.

An article published in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in December of 1938 stated that Lydia's brother filed a lawsuit challenging the will of a wealthy bachelor named Fred Henry Lamping. According to his death certificate, Fred was the son of William Lamping and (Unknown) Strangmeier.

Harry claimed that he was the nephew and nearest surviving relative of Fred Lamping, thus entitling him to an estate he estimated to be valued at more than $50,000. Harry's lawsuit claimed that his mother was the half-sister of Fred Lamping.

A second lawsuit was then filed by 3 women--Lottie (nee Strangmeier) Fieldson of Webster Groves, Minnie (nee Strangmeier) Gosling of Chicago, Illinois, and Katherine Strangmeier, also of Chicago--claiming to be third cousins of Fred Lamping, entitling them to a portion of Fred's estate. Their lawsuit did not mention Harry Poertner.

Harry died of suicide in October of 1939. His Missouri death certificate listed his mother as Louisa Lamping and his father Henry William Poertner, Sr.
