Harriet was born in Gallipolis, so grew up close to both grandmothers. Later her family moved to Ashland, Kentucky, and then Marietta, Ohio. She had blonde hair and blue eyes, was a Brownie, and loved to read and color. She began to get weak, but medicine was just learning about her condition, and even once diagnosed, could do little to help, as she had cystic fibrosis. The family still has many toys and letters so the great-nieces and nephews and future generations will remember her.
