HAVANA, IL - Robert W. Beck, 75, of Havana passed away at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Jan. 5, 1934, in Cowden, Ill., to Harvey and Lula (Sloat) Beck. He married Shelba Wilcoxen Graham in Havana on Nov. 25, 1970.
Mr. Beck is survived by his wife, Shelba of Havana; one son, Robert Eugene (Gloria) Beck of Decatur; six daughters, Joyce Dennison of Roby, Mary Ann (Marty) Mourning of Decatur, Candy Beck of Illiopolis, and Diana (Gary) Pemberton, Peggy Ogden and Sherry Graham, all of Havana; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Bud (Leah) Beck of Lawrenceville, Ga., Marvin "Skip" (Janet) Beck of Effingham and Dean (Florence) Beck of Beecher City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Mr. Beck was a member of the Havana Masonic Lodge and OP&CMIA Peoria Local No. 18.
He worked as a cement mason for over 50 years.
Visitation will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Masonic service at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services in Apple Cemetery, near Lewistown. The Rev. Sidney Davis will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Lodge.
