Son of W and Mary Adams. Husband of Louisa Hayes Adams; father of W. H. Adams; buried next to them. Also buried next to Mary Adams (relationship unknown), who was born 1802 in North Carolina. Father of Joe Adams, who died in Missouri. His sister, Mary Adams Cunningham is also buried at Harmony, but there is no marker for her.

James Calvin Adams moved to Parker County, Texas in 1859. He was a blacksmith.

James Adams enlisted at Fort Belknap in 1862. He served in the Texas Frontier Service under J.J. Cureton and Buck Barry.
