Tula Kalleres Merrillville / Gary Tula Kalleres of Merrillville, formerly of Gary, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2004. She was a member of SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She was a former member of the Board of Directors and a three time Chairman of the local Salvation Army and The Board of Directors of The Red Cross. She was a Board Member of the Daughters of Penelope and a member of the U.S. Navy League since 1969. She was the first female member of the Gary Chamber of Commerce. She was former owner of the State and Grand Theaters in Gary and the Copper Kettle Restaurant. She was a Radio Station Account Executive for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter M. Kalleres, sister Jennie Genetos, brother, Ernest Pannos and youngest son, Arthur Kalleres. She is survived by one son, Vice Admiral Michael P. (Georgine) Kalleres of Florida; daughter-in-law, Sue Ann Kalleres of Indianapolis; six grandchildren: Deme (James) Sanford, Peter (Jennifer) Kalleres, Dayne (Michael) Kalleres-Kelleher, Jason A. Kalleres, Gregory A. Kalleres and Greer D. Kalleres.; three great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Matthew Sanford and Skylar Kalleres; and 18 loving nieces and nephews of the Genetos and Pannos Families. Funeral services Saturday, March 13, 2004, 10:00 A.M. DIRECTLY at SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Merrillville, with Rev. Theodore Poteres officiating. Interment, Ridgelawn Cemetery. Burns Funeral Home, Crown Point Chapel in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Merrillville/Gary Salvation Army or to SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
