Robert was 83 when he passed away on Monday at St. Mary's Hospital. Born to Helmer & Leone (Post) Amundson. Robert graduated from Baraboo High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1943 and served in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, Robert attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Texas in 1950.
He married Jane Morton on June 30, 1951, in Baraboo.
Robert taught in Hillsboro for the first several years of his marriage, before relocating to Madison and working for American Family Insurance for more than 30 years, retiring as vice president of office administration. Robert enjoyed all sports and all seasons, and spending time with his family in the Northwoods. Above all, Robert's greatest love was his family.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, three sons and their wives, a daughter and her husband, 12 grandchildren, a brother, and two sisters.
Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Allyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St Dennis Catholic Church.
