Miss Margaret Stewart was born in Milford, Delaware county, N.Y. in1816, where she resided with her parents till 1838, when she married Stephen T. Averil and moved to Otsego county, N. Y. There they resided until June of 1841. when they moved to Charlotte, Mich., living there only one year was the mother of five children, three daughters and two sons. Two sons, Charles and Stephen, and one daughter, Mrs. Williard Carney, all of Scotls, survive her. Four brothers, two in New York, one in Colorado and one in South Haven, Mich., are left to mourn her departure. During the 55 years residence on this farm Mr. and Mrs. Averil have taken a dense wilderness and of it built a beautiful home. The shade trees and orchards were planted by their hands and after many years of constant toil they rest side by side across from their old home.
