passed away into rest on Friday morning, March 24,
2006 at the United Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Elkins was born near Hillsboro, Tennessee on
September 17, 1903 to her parents the late Same
Charles and Betty Kate Bryan Charles. She was
also preceded in death by her husband, Horace
Elkins; on son, Dr. Horace Charles Elkins and granddaughter, Karianne Tarter. She had served as the
Manager of the College Street Elementary School
Cafeteria for some 22 years and also served
meals for many of the area civic organizations.
She was a loving house-wife and dedicated member
of the Main Street Church of Christ. She was
known and loved by so many people whose lives
she touched throughout her lifetime. Hundreds of
friends were personally greeted by Mrs. Elkins
who attended her 100th Birthday Party at the
Manchester Coffee County Conference
Center in 2003. Mrs. Elkins is survived by two
daughters, Jo Elkins Busb, Manchester and
Billie Elkins (Wayne)Tarter of Birmingham,
Alabama; one son, Dr.Bob S. (Nancy) Elkins,
Brentwood, Tennessee; sister, Minnie V. Baker,
Peachtree City, Georgia,thirteen grandchildren and
twenty-two great-grandchildren,four great-greatgrandchildren and a host
of other relatives, friends,neighbors and loved ones.
The family received friends at the Visitation on
Saturday evening, March 25, 2006 from. The
Funeral Service was conducted
on Sunday afternoon, March 26, 2006 at
1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home
with Brother Charles Brown and Brother
Westley Hazel officiating. Mrs. Elkins' grandsons
served as the pallbearers.Interment followed at the
Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. CENTRAL FUNERAL HOME WAS
