Jay D. Vogel, 53, of Rushville, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008.
Born March 23, 1954 in Rushville, he was the son of James and Barbara (Mohr) Vogel; his father, a Rushville resident, survives. He married Italia Ann McMahel July 30, 1991; she survives.
Mr. Vogel was a lifelong Rushville resident. He was a graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School Class of 1972 and received an associate's degree in telecommunications from IU in 1974. He worked as a dispatcher at the Rush County Sheriff's Department from 1977 to 2001. He also worked with Coolbakers Catering & Delivery Service in Indianapolis for two years. He attended New Salem United Methodist Church in his early life.
Survivors in addition to his father and wife include stepdaughter, Chana Thomas of Shelbyville; brothers, Jeff (Pam) Vogel of Rushville and Jon (Stela) Vogel of Dayton, Ohio; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with Pastor Phil Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
