BURKS
Funeral services for William Price Burks, 91, were held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Shawnee Run Baptist church with burial in Shawnee Run cemetery. Mr. Burks died at 4:20 o'clock Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 1934, in a Lexington hospital after an illness of two years. His wife, Mrs. America Mosley Burks, died in January, 1920.
A retired farmer, Mr. Burks was the son of John and Orpah Curd Burks. He was a native of Mercer county. Had he lived until March 9 he would have been 92 years old.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J. Harlan Smith, and Miss Ann Burks Lexington pike, with whom he had made his home in recent years; a half-brother, Judge John L. Burks, Lexington pike. Two grandchildren Bernice Scott and Earl Smith and one great-grandson Harlan Scott, also survive.
Services were to be conducted by Rev. W. D. Moore, of Anderson county, assisted by Rev. G. Whitcomb Ellers.
