Captain Langdon, during his time with the 101st US Colored Infantry, also offered testimony to Congressional investigators regarding the condition of the contraband camps (these were camps for the freed slaves). It appears from his testimony that he was an honest man who tried to do the right thing, despite being in a difficult position. This is from a report entitled "Report of the commissioners of the investigation of colored refugees in Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama" dated Dec. 28, 1864
