The regiment was merged with several other veteran regiments that were organizing in New York City at the time, and the company was assigned as Company H of the 17th New York Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment on October 14th, 1863. He served with the regiment through its service in Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.
Private See was killed in action on September 1st, 1864, at the Battle of Jonesboro, Georgia.
