Mr. Barton was a member of Sardis Baptist Church, a native of Winn parish, and retired from the Louisiana State Highway Department after many years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie Barton of Winnfield; one son, Julius H. Barton of Winnfield; one daughter, Margaret Ann Severance of Winnfield; one brother, the Rev. E. B. Barton of Winnfield; four sisters, Ella Mae Russ of Winnfield, Ophelia Simmons, Irene E. Hughes, and Johnnie Cathey, all of Shreveport; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Sardis Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Ray Keyes officiating. Burial was in Brown Cemetery under direction of Southern.
