Green-Wood Cemetery
Section 106, Lot 11262.
This lot was purchased by Sarah Whitney June 7 1858. Thomas R Whitney was moved here from lot 4259 on June 8 1858, although Green-Wood’s digitized burial search gives the adjacent lot (lot 11250) as his grave location. But, according to the original handwritten records, lot 11262 is his resting place. Unfortunately, there are no legible stones or inscriptions for either Thomas or Sarah Whitney. The stone photo on this page was taken almost 20 years prior to the lot photo. It is no longer possible to tell which of the several flat stones on the lot was legible as Thomas Whitney’s in 1999.There are 4 vertical and 2 flat stones currently visible on the lot. The flat stones are worn smooth. One of the vertical stones is completely illegible.
[NOTE: Individuals buried here but not memorialized by any currently visible or legible stone or inscription are noted after the inscriptions.]
INSCRIPTIONS
The flat stones appear at left center (in front of the white vertical stone), and at the lower right hand corner of the photo.
