William H Griffin, a native of New Hampshire, was a resident of Delhi, Delaware County,
Iowa, when he enlisted as a Private on Sept. 23, 1861 at the age of 26 years. He mustered
in Co B 4th Iowa Cavalry on Nov. 23, 1861. Re-enlisted and re-mustered Dec. 14, 1863.
Mustered out Aug. 8, 1865 at Atlanta, Georgia.

My family records say that he was shot in the battle of New Orleans, LA and Della was the nurse who took care of him. He went back to IA and then came back to LA and married her after the war was over.
