Mr. Leonard died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 29, 1919, in Vancouver, British Columbia, the son of Percival Osmond and Agnes Harling Leonard.
He was naturalized as a U.S. citizen on June 29, 1943. He served his country during World War II as second lieutenant in the Army Air Corps.
Mr. Leonard worked for 40 years as a mechanical engineer for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and a volunteer at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He married Wilda Pirl on Feb. 23, 1947, in Redlands, Calif. She preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 2006.
Survivors include two daughters, Laurie Magee, Lawrence, and EvaLyn Wilson, Fairway; one son, Frederick, Columbia, S.C.; and six grandchildren.
