Laura Lee Robinson Benson passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009, from the effects of cancer. She was born in Shelby, Ohio, to Henry and Doris Robinson on May 12, 1952. She moved to Brigham City, Utah, when she was 9 years old and attended Box Elder High School. She was chosen the city's "Peach Queen" in 1970 and then attended USU to continue her education, graduating in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in dance education.

Laura was involved in many performing groups including the USU Aggiettes, Calico Performing Company, Aggie Carolers, The Glenn Miller Sunburst Club and the Celebrate America Show. Laura met her future husband, Jan Benson, in one of the performing groups. Laura agreed to marry Jan and they sealed their marriage in the Logan LDS Temple on July 31, 1973. She loved the stage and participated in many Broadway shows.

She taught clogging, aerobics, ballroom dance, tumbling and children's creative dance.

Laura was a T.V. personality and managed the ushers at the Eccles Theatre. She was also runner-up in the Mrs. Utah Pageant in 1983. Perhaps her crowning performance was raising her five children: Lisa Benson in Arizona; J.R. Benson in New Jersey; Connie Starks in Ogden, Utah; Melanie Allsop in Texas; and Julie Benson in Lehi, Utah. Laura also helped to raise a Latin daughter, Veronica Silva Wood, in Provo, Utah. She has nine grandchildren and claims two more from Veronica. Laura was preceded in death by her younger brother, Mickey, and is survived by her parents; her sister, Marcia Robinson; her husband, Jan; and her children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be at noon Monday, June 22, in the Logan 25th Ward Chapel, 325 Lauralin Dr., Logan. Viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, and before the funeral services at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be left at the viewing and funeral.
