Harold L. Van Erem, age 82, 2650 15th Street South, Fargo, ND, died Monday, August 9, 2004, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.

Harold was born on March 31, 1922 at Summit, SD, the son of William and Matilda (Bell) Van Erem. At the age of four, Harold's family moved to Fargo, ND. He grew up here and attended school at Fargo Central High School. He then began working at McHose Mattress Company in Fargo.

He was drafted into the Army during World War II. He served his country from April 23, 1944 until January 19, 1945. Upon his discharge, he returned to Fargo and McHose Mattress Company.

He was united in marriage to Lorraine I. Skoien on August 2, 1945 in Fargo. Harold retired as a foreman at McHose Mattress Company in 1975.

Harold and his family enjoyed spending summers on Turtle Lake in Minnesota. He also took great pride working in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, Fargo; two sons, Timothy (Dianna) of Tucson, AZ, and James of West Fargo, ND; two grandsons, Daniel and Michael; two great grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret (Julius) Meidinger of Pelican Rapids, MN.

He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Hunter James; and two sisters, Florence Nelson and Jessie Shaleen.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Boulger Funeral Home, and Friday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
