Wilma Jean Greer Sorrell passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009, at age 75 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, at her residence.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church. Burial: Old Dublin Memorial Park. Visitation: with family will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harrell Funeral Home.
She was born March 29, 1934, to Raymond Burdette and Myrl Weston Burdette in Mullin. She married Billy Franklin Greer on Nov. 15, 1952, and to this union one son was born. Bill passed away June 11, 2001. Wilma then married Billy B. Sorrell on Feb. 6, 2005, in Salado. She and her first husband had owned Western Auto store in Dublin for 33 years. She was a homemaker, an artist, a seamstress, a quilter and a gardener. Wilma was also very active in the church choir, helped in the nursery, and was associated with the Dublin Corner Lot project. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dublin, the Thursday Club, and the Granbury Quilting Bee.
Survivors: Her husband, Bill Sorrell of Dublin; her son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Kim Greer of Stephenville; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Wanda Goolsby of Dallas, Mona McMillan and husband, Jack, of Lubbock, and Jo Parker of Goldthwaite; her stepchildren, Regina and Joel Apple of Comanche, Okla., David and Peggy Sorrell of Comanche, Okla., Robin and Chris Cain of Comanche, Okla., and Rosalind Sorrell of Davis, Okla.; and numerous other relatives.
