Born Aug. 1, 1954, in Rushville, he was the son of William Linville Whitaker Sr. and Betty (Myers) Borders. He married Brenda Brandenburg on April 4, 1981, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 1989.
Survivors include his mother of Rushville; his father of Greensburg; one son, Keith Whitaker of Rushville; two stepdaughters, Dawn (husband, Richard) Snedegar of Rushville and Mindy (husband, Doug) Woliung of Osgood; two stepsons, Gary Albert and Gwaine Jeffries, both of Rushville; one brother, David Goodpasture of Somerset, Ky.; one sister, Donna (husband, Jim) Harlan of LaPalma, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Mr. Whitaker moved to Mays several months ago from Rushville, where he lived most of his life.
He was employed at Knauf Manufacturing since January of 1992.
Mr. Whitaker graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School, Class of 1973.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Moster & Cox Mortuary, 334 N. Main St. in Rushville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Bates officiating.
Burial will be in Van Pelt Cemetery in Shelby County.
