Miss Bertha Mae Mattingly, 46, died on Thursday evening, February 14, at 6 o'clock at her home at St. Francis. Death was due to a heart ailment and followed a month's illness. A daughter of George T. Mattingly, deceased, and Mrs. Sudie Mae Holtshouser Mattingly, she was born and reared in this county and was a life long resident. She and her mother made their home together. Also surviving are four brothers and three sisters. Bernard Mattingly of St. Francis, Artie Mattingly, Johnny Mattingly, Mrs. Bernard Woods and Mrs. Tava Lucas of New Hope, Earl Mattingly of Louisville, and Mrs. Ben Mattingly of Bardstown. Two other sisters are deceased, Mrs. Estell Miles and Mrs. Nellie Lucas. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. John Talbott Spalding, were held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Buried in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, St. Francis, Ky.; Cemetery 2; Section 20.
