Carrol F. Faist left us on May 4, 2016 to be with the Lord. He joins his wife of 53 years, Estelle Floch, who predeceased him in 2000. He leaves behind his loving children Diane, Gail, Jim, and Tim, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carrol, the older of two sons was born to Frederick and Gesene Faist in Elk Grove/Franklin, Ca. and grew up on a dairy farm there. He attended C.K. McClatchy High School and Sacramento City College where he majored in Aeronautics. During World War II he flew more than 40 bombing missions in the South Pacific. After the war he worked for the California Department of Fish and Game for 36 years as Warden-Pilot, retiring as Senior Warden-Pilot in 1983. Even at an elderly age, he delighted many with stories of his days of flying. Carrol enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His family adored him, and he was known in the community as the kindest, most warmhearted man who was always willing to lend a hand or just sit and visit. He enjoyed family camping, fishing and gardening; after retirement, he and his wife had many wonderful travels in their RV. Carrol led a full life and will be sorely missed. We wish to express our deep appreciation to Hospice of Greater Sacramento and to Home Care Assistance for the loving care and support they gave to Carrol and the family until his passing. A service will be held graveside limited to the family.
